This wine is native from very old vineyards, situated at two plots of different but complementary soils. The soil that bestows the structure and color is located on an east-west hillside, with small pieces of sandstones and alluvium stones settled over sequential stratums of clay. The other soil, which gives dynamism and joviality is the limestone, high over the sea level. It gives hints of minerals and strong distinction to the wine.
Hand-harvested in their aromatic maturity, in boxes of 15 kilograms, the clusters were selected by the deposit and were barreled at the same time without de-stemming, with a daily partial treading until the beginning of the fermentation and accompanied by "bâtonnage" during the natural fermentation. The devatting took place 15 days after. From the beginning of October 2009 to May 2011, the wine remained in its original barrels with a fortnightly topping up. There were a total of twelve new barrels from different origins, mainly French forests, with a long dry up and very deep and slow toast but not at an excessive temperature.
VISUAL: Dark red color, with lively and bright purple glints. Deep body.
NOSE: Unique, sensual, it is the warmest vintage of all Amaya collection wines that have been made by today, with hints of toast and graphite evolving to blueberries scent. Through its continuous evolution dried rose petals aromas evolve. A fragrant variety that takes your imagination to the coastal fields of River Duero.
PALATE: Tasty, fine, characteristic. Lively and fluent attack. It has a medium intensity, but very deep.
